I must say, “This is really big news on its face!” I’ve just heard that later on during this year North Korea and South Korea are going to end the 68-year war between the countries.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un told everybody that North Korea and South Korea will have a “new history.”

South Korean President Moon Jai-in said he talked with Kim Jong-un “about peace and prosperity” and that the North Korean leader should be applauded for his efforts to work with the South Koreans.

And oh yeah, they’ve also agreed to get rid of all of their nukes. At least, that’s what’s being reported.

As some of y’all know, North Korea and South Korea have been at war since 1950. In 1953, the two countries signed an Armistice Agreement which ended the fighting on the battle field but not the war.

Yup, that’s why there’s the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which is the place where representatives for both sides can meet and not worry about all of that tension boiling over into military conflict.

Well now, all is good. That is according to the news reports. However, I wouldn’t look at this new step as “new” and a sign of good things to come.

The North Koreans and South Koreans have agreed to high level talks before to only have them ended.

Plus, the summer is coming up which is also the same time when the U.S. does joint military exercises with the South Koreans.

And every time the South Korean and the U.S. military do the joint military exercises, North Korea starts shooting off rockets.

So yeah, we’ll just have to wait and see how all of this ends up.
